Edmund R. Edwards
Edmund R. Edwards graduated from Allen University in 1940.
Edmund Russell Edwards entered eternal life and everlasting peace
on Tuesday, August 9, 2005. He leaves to cherish many beautiful
memories: his devoted wife of 63 years, Helen; daughter, Janis Marley
of Chicago, Ill; son, Bruce Edwards of Jamaica, NY; sister; Sandra
Lawrence of New York, NY; daughter-in-law, Lottie (Robert) Clinton
of Wilmington, NC, and many dedicated nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
Edmund Russell Edwards born to Lassie Douglas on March 11, 1918
in Washington, North Carolina. As an infant, Edmund was adopted
into the family of Wilhelmina and Edmund Edwards, also of Washington,
North Carolina, where he was welcomed by four sisters: Wilhelmina,
Lila, and Eddie all of whom preceded him in death.
Edmund graduated from Allen University, in 1940 with a B.A. degree
in history. While at Allen he played football and developed a life
long love of the sport and he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity. After graduating from Allen, he worked tirelessly for
his beloved alma mater. For two terms he served as president of
the New York Allen University Alumni Chapter – He also served
as the first national alumni fund raising chairperson and was honored
with Allen’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
The GAAAU extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Helen B. Edwards
and all surviving family members.

Charles Hart
Charles Hart graduated from Allen University in 1958.
Charles Hart, 69, a former senior tax auditor for the District of
Columbia, died of a heart attack April 29, 2005 at his home in Silver
Spring, MD.
Mr. Hart was born February 1, 1936 in Charleston, S.C., to Agnes and
Virgil Hart. He graduated from Allen University in 1958 with a B.S.
Degree in Business Education. He did additional training in accounting
and computer science at Montgomery College. He was an active and faithful
member of the Allen University Alumni Association, serving faithfully
as Chairman of Budget and Finance for many years.
Mr. Hart is survived by his wife of 43 years, Annie Louis Heart of
Silver Springs; two children, Michael E. Heart and Kendra A. Hart;
two sisters, Malinda Taylor and Mary Green; two brothers, T.J. and
Jacob Mayers; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mattie Porch and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

D.W. Richardson
Daniel W. Richardson graduated from Allen University in 1967.
Daniel Webster Richardson, president of Redmond- Richardson Funeral
Home, Inc, of Kingstree, SC, and Samuels and Richardson Funeral
Home of Kingstree, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2005,
in the Carolinas Hospital System, Florence, SC. He was 60 years
old.
He was born September 22, 1944 in Springlake, NC, to Watkins Richardson,
Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Morrison Richardson. He attended Boylan Haven
Mather Academy High School, Camden, SC. And graduated from Allen
University in 1967. He graduated from the American Academy McAllister
Institute of Funeral Service, New York, NY, with a M.S. degree in
Mortuary Science. He did further studies at SC State University
And Clemson University.
Mr. Richardson was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; AU Yellow
Jacket Club; Douglas Masonic Lodge No 277; Elks Lodge No. 1679;
Rotary club; Mouzon’s Club; American Legion and the National
and State Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. He was also
a member of the Board of Directors of the Exchange Bank of South
Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army, and he played professional
football with the Orlando Panthers of the Continental Football League.
He coached football at Hillcrest School in Bedford Hills, NY and
was a biology teacher and assistant coach at Roberts High School
in Holly Hill, SC.
